This Wet Film Thickness Gauge is an important tool to measure the depth of paint and coatings applied to substrates to ensure the correct thicknesses are applied.
When applying paint or coatings to substrates, this tool should be embedded in the paint to measure the depth of the coating. This is extremely important when applying intumescent paint coatings as their performance is dependent upon the correct thickness of paint being applied to the steelwork.
This wet film thickness is calculated by the intumescent specialist at SML Paints.
Some products will have predetermined WFT's that are published on the manufacturers' product data sheet.
For measuring wet film thickness of paints, varnishes, antifouling and many other wet coatings that are sprayed, dipped or brushed on a smooth surface. Tricomb Wet Film Gauges are not calibrated and should only be relied on to give an indication of film thickness. Easy to use, place the Tricomb into the paint so it touches the substrate. Then remove the Tricomb. The coating thickness can now be observed by looking at the teeth. All gauges have dual Micron and Thou/Mil scales.

Wide measurement range, catering for virtually all of the standard wet film measurement requirements. Measurement range 50-900 microns or 2-36 thou.
